Igor works with institutions and high-net-worth families, specializing in research, portfolio construction and risk management.

Prior to cofounding Sage Rhino Capital with his wife, Caroline Novak, Igor spent more than two decades building investment expertise across leading financial institutions and alternative investment firms. As a portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch, he developed private wealth and investment relationships with leading executives and entrepreneurs and families, helping clients navigate complex financial decisions.

Before founding Sage Rhino, Igor was a cofounder, managing partner and portfolio manager of Soma Asset Management, LLC, a single strategy alternative investment management boutique. Igor was also a portfolio manager with Symphony Asset Management, LLC, a multistrategy hedge fund and an asset management firm with over $7 billion in assets under management (AUM). At Symphony, Igor was part of the portfolio management team working on the firm’s flagship long/short equity hedge funds (with over $1 billion in AUM) and was lead portfolio manager on several long-only strategies.

Over the course of his career inside large financial institutions, Igor saw how complexity, incentives and organizational layers could stand in the way of serving clients well. He cofounded Sage Rhino around a simple belief: advice should be objective, transparent and focused in each client’s best interest.

Igor began his career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen, LLP. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a Chartered Financial Analyst, and he holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
